Yesterday I bought a Gitzo GT3542LS. Coming home I noticed something strange. If you look at each 2nd thickest section, there are 2 dark rings of around 1mm on each 2nd section. The other sections don't have this, so I thought this was a bit strange. I don't know what it is or where it comes from, it's not dirt, it's no adhesive, the surface is perfectly flush, so no scratches either. I hope you understand what I mean, because I can't take any pictures right now.

I don't think it has a any impact on the functioning of the tripod, but it looks a bit strange to me. Do any of you have the same thing on your Gitzo tripods? Should I return it and ask for a new one?

Hello from France
Gitzo wrote intheir catalog that there are laser markings on the second leg section that allow for faster setup to a standard height of 135cm.
Sincerely yours
Habu

^ Exactly. These markings are on the 2542LS, 3532LS, 3542LS, 3542XLS, 4542LS, 4552GTS, 5532LS and 5542LS. Eight of the current 16 systematic models.
