OK, this is a silly thread, but I'm sure others have the same anticipation over something you ordered. I bought a mint Canon 300 2.8 IS last week and the seller shipped it by Fedex. It showed scanned into the center in Raleigh on Friday evening... oh the agony. I've been all weekend checking the tracker for some strange reason, knowing it will still say the same thing until Monday. I sold my 200 1.8 to someone, and I've been tracking that too... it was UPS so has had some movement over the weekend to get closer to the final destination. I wish Fedex would let you come in and pick up items on Saturday, but I get why they don't do it. It would probably cost them more to do that than to deliver it themselves. I will be like a kid on Christmas tomorrow when the Fedex truck does arrive! Anyone else waiting on a lens that's sitting at a carrier distribution center.

No, but I have a friend who works at a Fedex carrier distribution center and he has been using some customer's 300 2.8 IS all weekend. :)

My 5D3 is with Fedex right now and it stinks since they don't do any transactions over the weekends (not even saturday!). :( I wish people sent out with usps rather than Fedex...usps is always so much faster for me.

I also purchased an 85mm f/1.8 and the seller is using usps and sending it out Monday...I will be even getting that BEFORE getting my camera...oh Fedex, you need faster shipping methods.

I just love the delivery system in Japan. Everything under 24h and they are so delicate with your stuff... crazy! If you are not there, they keep coming back until you are.

The brown truck tried to deliver my 10-20 AND 50mm to my house in the middle of the day Wednesday, nobody was home to sign for it,( had I known it would need a signature I would have shipped it to work). I called the number on the window sticker, left behind, and they said there was so many restrictions that I couldn't pick it up, I couldn't change shipping location, nothing!
I called B&H at 6pm and they worked it out! I had the box in my hand by 10am at work!
That's what I call service, even if it took an extra day!

Can you program an hour with Fedex/UPS? For exemple here I can write on Amazon that I want the package tomorow 18h30 and it will ring at your door at that moment. That way I dont have to be anxious all day...

Had the same happen with the 300 f/4, was here by a Saturday - but the extra for saturday delivery wasn't paid for so I had to wait til monday morning. That's the advantage of buying local - instant gratification lol..

With FedEx, you can have it routed to the nearest pickup location before it was delivered. With UPS, they have to miss the first attempt. This is with signature required. If not UPS just drop it at the front door for anyone to take. Stupid UPS. I ship fedex every chance I got.

You can do the same with ups - if you change the delivery to a retail location it's a $5 charge or they can hold it at the nearest distribution center for free.

I have a 100-400 somewhere on a UPS truck. It's supposed be be delivered tomorrow. I was hoping it might come Saturday since it was signed out of the closest UPS hub at 11:10 Saturday night, but no luck. Can't wait until it gets here, but it's been pouring rain all day today and is supposed to be the same way the next couple of days, so I guess it's just as well on the truck.

You made my day... I'm so glad I posted this now. I was taking pictures at a volleyball tournament this past Saturday and in the past would have had the 200 1.8 with me. So that guy I saw with the big white across the venue was probably a Dad who works for Fedex that was using my lens. :)

This is why you order things on Sunday night or Monday morning. This way you can have it delivered to your house or work on Tuesday. Never order things on the weekend. This is why it is UPS's biggest day for deliveries is on Wednesday. Most people get things delivered 2 day air.

Take Care,
Cheers, Patrick

You wouldn't fair well in Canada, the postal system is archaic.
