To survive here on the edge of the Namib desert life needs to be tenacious, water is scarce and the soil very poor in nutrients. These "dead" plants only need a tiny bit of moisture to revive.

In the distance you can see the real desert, soon I will be crossing that on the way to the Skeleton coast.......
