this was my first time stacking a timelapse of a meteor shower. Apparently there was another meteor shower happening at the same time as the Gemenids, not sure what thats all about. I wasnt sure which method to use to transfer from the layer mask but in the end my last couple meteors were ok, I fudged a couple of them trying to use the selection tool. Oh well now I know how to do it. Enjoy.

thanks everyone, according to a school professor, during the Gemenid shower another meteor shower created by the dust trail of comet Wirtanen was occurring, this explains the lateral meteor passing behind the telephone pole which is not actually a Gemenid meteor.

what I really want to know is how far away are these meteors from me when I shoot them? Are they burning up before hitting the ground or is someone way out in the country getting pummeled by space debris?

When you see a streak and it disappears in the sky , it's burning up as it enters earths atmosphere . Some of those particals are small as a grain of sand , some bigger . If they hit land then you would see is all the way to the ground . Heres' a good example of a big one !
