Can you even buy frames for the Canon i9900 13x19 prints? Or do you have to have the frame special ordered? to fit the picture. Just wondering I haven't seen 13x19 frames any where around here. Or do I have to have it matted to fit the frame? Many ? sorry. But just wondering before I buy this printer. I want the printer for the fact it can print larger prints than an 8x10 size. anyone here have the i9900 and printed a photo on the 13x19 paper and did you get good results from printing that large? And did it frame nicely?

Sounds like a custom frame to me...

I have a hard enough time getting frames for a 12x18 size prints that i get done at costco.. And my costco prints actually look like GOOD lab quality prints using good paper.

Im also into wood working so ive started making my own frames after i found out custom frames cost big bucks. Friends dad also owns a glass shop where i get glass cut as a discount.

If you dont mind me asking, how is you Canon i9900 ? Ive never even considering buying a printer since costco has been working out for me very well, AND selling.

8x10 = $1.99
12x18 = $2.99
16x20 and 20x30 are both $10.00

Have you worked out the average cost for print? Only looking at paper and media cost? Is the quality really that different from costco?

Good luck with the frames

Hi, StealthLude I haven't gotten the Canon i9900 as of yet. Just in though about buying one. I do lots of printing though so thought it would be great to get me a nice printer. I don't know tho if it would be better not just to have them done through a lab. and being I will have to have the frames costume made to fit the 13x19 that can run into some money.

Costco has very reasonable prices. But now as I think about it a bit more after your post I could buy me a nice lens for my rebel for what I'm going to give for the printer. I will have to give it some more though...lol

13" x 19" generally goes into an 18"x24" frame. There are TONS of places online that sell precut mats, especially since all the new model printers are printing in 13"x19". However, you could also cut your own or have a few custom cut (a dozen or so at a time lessens the cost).

If you don't want it matted finding a 13"x19" frame is not to difficult online frame shops and even your local craft store should carry it. Standard metal/wood frames in the 13"x19" sizes aren't too expensive either.

The i9900 is AMAZING. Totally worth the money.

The print costs are also really reasonable since it has 8 ink cartridges.

For an 8"x10" borderless it's about $1.50 ~ $1.80 depending on saturation and the vivid image setting using canons top end photopaper (photopaper pro plus glossy or whatever they call it).

As far as quality I've never seen anything like it. Period.

My problem is the initial investment of $500 + ink and paper.

I dont know if any of you have given costco an honest shot? But i personally think the quality of print is at par with a profesional lab. Cost of prints allow for GOOD profits.

AND, upload online, pickup in store. Printed on Fiji crystal Archive paper and so far so good. Monitors calibrated and i also have the ICC Printer Profiles from DryCreek (for costco)

As far as frames go. It can get expencive, just depends on what size you want. If it it needs to be made.

I still want to see the print out of that canon, im sure its amazing, but i dont see how it can compare to LightJet printing from costco. I think its lightjet, but for the quality of print for the $, very good.

GAIL, if i were you, get a few 8x10 and 121x18 printed at costco.. Cost is cheap, quality is good. You might even totally skip the canon printer. Since 4x6 prints are only 17 cents each.

:-) order a print from my website that's printed on the i9900

^^^^^^
plug.

plus there's no cosco in my area. I think it all depends on how well the machines are calibrated at a given cosco... hehehe maybe RObin Williams is working there (1 hour photo anyone?)

Yes, I have read a lot of good reviews on the i9900. I'm about convince, to go for it. I don't think I will regret it. I had some vacations pic's done a while back and had lots of them. I think I had like 100 + pictures printed and it cost me a good penny.

I was like well, if I just had me a good printer I could had printing them my self. From what Ive read the Canon i9900 is awesome.

That's the thing saving 20 cents or 10 cents on an 8x10 doesn't seem like a big deal but overtime that stacks up. Plus the thing is FAST! Their quoted numbers really are right on mark. Not only that but it's not an ugly printer either. I

Yes, very true in time it adds up. And I just like being able to print my photos out then and not wait for them lol. And I'm started to take pic's for my family members and friends so thought I would do better to be able to print them and make more profit off them. In the long run I think it will pay for its self.

I've already in the past few months spent well over $200.00 on prints at professional labs. my sister just ordered $100.00 in pic's and after I had them printer for her I profited only $30.00. I know the over head cost of the ink and paper but HEY I can print a lot of 8x10's for $100.00.

And too just though it would be nice having my own. And some of my family members are wanting larger prints. And thought the 13x19 was a good size.
It's just so dang temping when i see it at Staples. Not to bring it home with me LOL.

Some options for you....what I do..

If you have access to these stores and online labs, you can have pro quality at least cost.

TOP QUALITY PRINTS - max size 12"x18" on Kodak Royal Pro paper (heavy paper), superb color saturation and sharpness - last a lifetime, excellent service...http://www.adoramapix.com (external link) - upload to this pro lab in New York City
look for sale coupon codes online at http://www.fatwallet.com/c/18/ (external link)

MATS - bought a custom-cut mat that was the color I wanted for a frame bigger than the 12x18 print - excellent prices and they'll even help you mat the photo and seal up the frame you bring in --The Great Frame Up

FRAMES - I wait for 40-50% off sales at Kohl's Department Stores -- they have many outstanding quality frames (wood and metal) that are available in many sizes.

I too have the i9900 and can highly recomend it. Great prints, I just love it. As for the 13x19 frame question, I had no problem finding 13x19 frames at my local store. But I would agree the 18x24 with a matt would look way better. Take care~

You can always check out hobby lobby if you have one close to you (or a michaels), I know I was wandering thru their framing dept. before christmas and saw some odd sized frames there.
