thinking of mirrorless...

been eyeing the Olympus OMD-EM5. a couple customer of mine all love its, but some have said it has slow focus issue in low light. then there's the EOS-M, which is very interesting, but compared to the OMD design, i like that a bit better.

which would you choose? i love shooting with my 5D2, but sometimes, i need something a tad bit lighter.

Personally, I like the Oly, but with ML ported to the Eos M, It's a tough choice.......

If you enjoy the 5D MKII and its results ... going mirror-less and APs C might be a problem ...
I used to pack FFDSLR and APS C DSLR's in same bag.
Now its 5D C and 5D MKII.
IF I need light its the I Phone and its always with me.

What do you mean?

If you are adding to the kit, I like the olympus. If you are replacing.....don't do it!

Higgs: no way am i replacing my 5D2.. i love that FF too much. even still love my 30D too...

I like both. Those are two very very different cameras.
But not going to buy any two of them, yet.
My Rebel still works. And the only time I really need small camera is for street photography.
Where film RFs are still best choice for me.

Magic Lantern. Of course, with the M you can use your current EF lenses (with adapter) and use it as a second camera in a pinch.

Oly EM5 for sure.
I rented it for it the weekend with the Pana 25 1.4 and it was an eye opener. Although I thought I HAD to have a VF, I found I didn't really use it much; probably 90/10 LCD/VF. In darkness the VF can "see" better than you can and it has an AF assist light, so taking pictures in a dark room of my cat with only light from the TV wasn't an issue.

In good light or outdoors the touch to focus and shoot was every bit as good as advertised and shown on video reviews. Very fast and makes it easy to get the focus where you want. You don't have to worry about AF speed. There are many features on the OMD that make you realize you are dealing with a camera a couple of generations in, whereas the M gives you the feeling that it is a first try.

IQ is great with the OMD (25 1.4 is stupid sharp), and it is better at ISO 6400 than my 60d. I thought it would be uncomfortably small but never had a problem with it. It is solid as a brick and the OMD body is heavier than a T3i with 50 1.8 on it.

I have a new appreciation for m4/3 and wouldn't hesitate to get one if the the choice was M or OMD. It wouldn't even be close
