Is there a Magic Lantern for the S100? If yes, what features does it offer?

Ummm yeah, the title is pretty much what I'm interested in...is there a Magic Lantern for the S100, and if there is, what do you gain by it?

Thanks!
Tamas

For the S100, look at CHDK.

I do not believe they have a version of Magic Lantern for any of the P&S cameras.

Tamas, I believe many of the features in magic lantern are available in CHDK for the S100

Ah, of course! I've been neglecting my compacts and just been hanging around the DSLR forums for too long and forgot about CHDK.

So is anyone using CHDK? I found this...but I'm not much of a computer geek, so can someone decipher this for me? Does this actually work for the S100? And what's there to gain by it?

I was hoping that you could figure out how it worked and then share with the rest of us.

I really want to get an intervelometer feature on my S100

Yeah, that's actually one of the main reasons I want one...I had the G9 (as far as I know the last Canon to do in-camera time-lapse videos) and I loved it...that's the ONLY feature I miss from the G9, though...I was thinking of getting a G9 just for time lapse stuff, but they're still pretty pricey....

I have been using a Hero3 for some timelapse stuff, and it is ok, but doesn't compare to a dslr. I am curious what I could get from the S100, but not curious enough to figure out CHDK.

I use CHDK on my S100. Most of the features that CHDK provides to powershot cameras are already included in the S100 they include Raw and complete manual control. I use CHDK mostly to expand the auto ISO range and to get additional information on my screen like current 35mm Effective focal length, Near and far depth of field distance that will be in focus, Battery % and current time. CHDK also allows you to run scripts for timelapse and motion detect. It also enables you to make and use a wired remote to trip the shutter (electric cable release) I started using it with my SD500 to get manual and RAW and now have it installed on my SD900, SD990 and S100. The S100 was the easiest camera to install it on follow the instructions to the letter in the links below and use method #2

Hans

http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/Bootable_SD_card (external link)

Method 2 - Using EOSCard to make the SD card bootable.

1. Start out with the SD Card Lock switch in the unlocked position (there will be a small slide switch on the side of the card - see picture above - make sure it is in the unlocked position to start this process.)
2. Low level format the card in camera. The card will now contain a single FAT32 partition. (Warning : any images on the card will be erased at this point. Also, make sure your camera did not format the card as exFAT - see warning note at start of this section - you may need to use something like FAT32 Format to format the card in your PC is so. ).
3. Remove the card from your camera and put it into the SD card reader of your PC. Unpack the appropriate build of CHDK for your camera and firmware version directly to the card (including all subdirectories).
4. Use EOScard to configure your SD card to be bootable in the camera. Read the instructions on this wiki page EOScard1.2 and download the software from there.
5. Write protect your SD card by moving the little switch on the side of the card to the locked position, insert the card back into your camera.

Now each time that you turn your camera on, the CHDK logo should briefly display automatically, indicating that CHDK has successfully loaded.
