I use two 430 EX II's in the corners of the gym aimed above the players heads and toward the top of the key. Set to 50mm on 1/2 power.

How long have you been using off camera light? I used speedlights for a year and then started using my Alien Bees B800 monolights 2 years ago and have never looked back. Best thing I ever did.

This is my third year to use speedlights. I like the portablility of them. Takes me maybe 10 min to set up and take down. I use super clamps on the railings or whatever is available. I considered Alien Bees, but have been happy with the speedlights so far.

Theron, how do you setup for Basketball? Which speedlites do you use and what power? I'm pretty sure I'm nailing the exposure correct, but my images aren't coming out sharp at all.

These shots were at 1/200, f/4.5 at ISO 800:

I think his rt shoe is more in focus than the face?

I use two Yongnou 560 with the battery packs in each corner. Full power at 50mm tilted slightly upwards.
Are you using Al Servo? And are you using single point focus?

Yeah, I'm using AI Servo, I have a 550EX and 580EX at half power firing from the front. I guess I need to bring the lights closer and have them at full power.

The foot is actually just a bit sharper than his face, I put the picture through photo mechanic to shrink it down.

Here are a few from my attempts......really starting to like the small, dimly lit gyms!!

Need a little advise... Pros and cons on these 2 images. Have to choose 1; like he slam the best; but it doesn't show his face. What are your thoughts?
