There were at least twenty woodpeckers at our feeder most of the afternoon on 12/19, they seemed to have filled up on all the food they could hold and were just sitting around in the tree. Then on 12/20 blizzard like conditions hit with 45 mph winds and we saw no woodpeckers all day.

Very pretty shot! They do know when the bad weather's coming.

That is a beautiful shot, that must have really been a sight too see, twenty Woody's all feeding. Funny how they know a big storm is coming in without a satelite or TV station.
I am usually wrong on ID's but if that beak was longer I would think a Hairy instead of a Downy, no spots on the tail and the large black patch on the shoulder all say Hairy but that short beak throws it off. In any event, a great shot, congrats on seeing all the area Woodpeckers all together, Well done!

Looks like the Downy's at my feeders. You sure can tell when the weather is going to turn when they devour the food. Mine did the same and we got a foot of snow!

you're a great friend, but if Zombies chase us, I am tripping you.

They are certainly more accurate than the weatherman. Very nice shot, love the composition. Thank you for sharing.
