Its been a few weeks, but i have finally had some to put pics up from the Darling 200 Rally in Western Australia.

the Darling 200 is the last event on the 2012 WA Rally Calendar - and was hot, dusty, and a load of fun.
It is not a part of the state championship, but is the last Clubman Cup event - which is a cheaper, shorter set of rally events - they typically run the state championship rounds, but dont do the night stages, they also run "blind" without recce and pacenotes - but with a roadbook which has the important and dangerous corners only.

Comments and Criticism are welcomed for this set of pics
i did go out to this event with the intention of shooting for fun, taking some risks (photographically - not by standing in stupid places) and making some photos i would be happy with, rather than trying to get a reasonable pic of every car

Geoff Leatt-Hayter and Sharon Black - 1st Clubman

Michael and Jack Civil (Ineligible) - this one shows part of the flash setup - there was another light on a stand to my left, maybe 10m down the road, aimed to form a patch of crosslight where the cars would hopefully be

Great shots. Very nice work.

I can't resist, I have to comment on your sig. The part that says "if owning a Digital SLR makes you a professional photographer"...... I'm assuming this stems from peoples misconceptions on the differences between amateur/professional and novice/expert.

In all honesty, irrespective of someone being a novice or an expert, if they are earning money or being paid in some way for their photographic efforts, then they are a professional.

Currently just a P&S, but watch this space.

I love the old Escorts - There is a young bloke around here who bought an escort for 600 bucks, then spent 2 years building it up into a rally car - then started rallying as soon as he had his license - he has been in the top 10 all year, and is stepping up into an Impreza next year

That sig line has been there for years, it was a joke between me and a few friends.
I agree with you, the gear doesn't make a professional or not.
If someone is earning a living from photography, they are a professional (although I have seen a few "professional photographers" acting very unprofessionally)

Its about time I changed the sig.
