Option 1:
Buy the EF 24-70 2.8L II and add it to my existing collection (see sig).
-To invest in glass has been my plan until the 5DIV comes out, hopefully offering the same or better DR performance as Sony/Nikon sensors.

Option 2:
Buy the D600 Kit with the 24-85 VR lens. Sell the kits lens. Sell all my Canon equipment. Buy the 24-70/2.8G, the 85/1.8G, and the SB700 flash.
-I rented the D600 and 24-70/2.8G combo from LensRentals a few weeks ago. Compared to my 5DII, I preferred the D600's focus speed and accuracy, frames per second, dynamic range, and metering. I did NOT prefer the Nikon menu layout and the camera was not as comfortable in my hand as the 5DII. I also feel that Canon build quality is better.

Decisions, decisions. Time is ticking...

I'd go with Option 1. But I just don't like the layout of Nikon bodies, and if you don't either I wouldn't want to switch in hopes of getting used to it.

Either way you can great pictures. The 5D mark II is more "pro" than the D600, so apples to oranges as far as the toughness the D600 is not 100% alloy, but still very good.

I think the D600 is better is than the 5D mark II for most people. However you have nice lenses. I guess it really depends on what you want to do.

the lens for sure... if you don't need the AF of the D600, you should keep your mk2

I used to shoot Nikon. The "feel" and menus is simply a matter of what you are used to. After a few months on a system, you'll prefer that. From your post, sounds like you'd be a lot happier with the D600.

I can't stand the look, feel, or menus of Nikon (5 mins with the D600 and my hand was not happy), but as much as I don't like them, Mike is right, menus are something you will get used to as you use it more and more.

The ergonomics on the other hand...it's not like you can change the size or shape of the hand you were born with ;) I personally couldn't stand the "feel" of the D600, and a camera I don't like holding or picking up is a camera I won't want to use as much as I could.
I'm a little surprised you did a rental and still can't decide if it is what you want. There is always the D7000 or D800 :)

And the cycle starts again..,first time I've seen 'wait for 5d iv'. :)

Jokes aside, I would go for the new 24-70 in your shoes, just a fantastic lens.
