Hi all, here are two of my first attempts with my new XT. I know there is a lot of room for improvement, and any comments would be welcomed. They were taken using a 75-300mm f4-5.6 III lens. They were shot in clear sky conditions, around the noon hour.

They are fine, at least at that size, although I'm not a big fan of the 75-300. You forgot to mention the focal lenght.

Those are good pictures, especially #1. #2 can use some fill flash.

ISO 800 at noon hour? Am I wrong in thinking that you should be able to shoot at ISO 100. I took some sunrise photos at 100. I can see some noise in the fence rails on the second shot is why I am asking.

there ok but did you really need iso 800 seems to me you had plenty of light for 200 iso
Rob.
edit. just thinking about your settings 1/500 sec f8 with iso 800 i would have though the shutter would have had to be a lot higher under those conditions yet they look right.

Like the first shot. You could have had the Bufallo turn a bit so the the sun was more on his face. :D
I agree with everyone else that they could have been shot a a lower ISO and still been O.K.
For first shot they ar pretty good.
Keep em coming.

Thanks for all the input everyone. I will certainly make adjustments and pay more attention to the iSO setting on my next pictures.
