Does anyone here not take on certain wedding jobs because the way bride/groom/couple look? as in their physical appearance?

Is there anyone here who tries to only shoot for good looking bride/groom/couple?

Just a random thought that came into my mind.. wondering if anyone actually does this / has done it in the past?

Even the "ugliest" folk can be made attractive with photoshop and soft focus lens/filters. If Tasmanian devils can find partners it just confirms that love is blind. Get the shots at a bit farther back to make the couples appearances look better, back up no farther than a 1/4 mile. Unappealing clothing is a different matter, suggest different styles of dress/suits like larger folk should avoid shiny clothes but go with subdued material instead. Have a merry holiday season and leave the lens cap off no matter how butt ugly they are. Sorry if I have offended anybodys esthetics.

You don't have to blog/feature their wedding if you don't want to, but ugly peoples' money is as green as anyone else's.

I've met photographers that will charge more.

I think it is bad karma to not take a wedding just because someone is an uggo. I wouldn't do that.

But I do charge people to blog their wedding, so if I don't want to feature it, I don't have to - assuming they don't pay for me to feature it.

Looks wouldn't be a criteria as far as whether I take on a wedding or not. I understand where you are coming from, that's not the way I roll.

It's far likely that I would not take the gig based on the attitude on the couple. If I get the sense that they will be a pain in the rear, then I won't take the gig.

it's not really about how they look, but the love they have with each other. as cheesy as that sounds. if the chemistry is there between them, no matter how they look you'll be able to feel that emotion and that energy and the photos will be great.

also, you charge people to blog their weddings Thomas?

...genius.

I feel it's bad form to refuse a client just because they don't measure up to one's standard of aesthetics.

I'm not saying you can't (refuse a client) -- but if you're hanging a shingle out and calling yourself a professional, then act like one.

If you can make fat/ugly people look good in a photo, wouldn't that mean more business for you?

the goal is to make everyone look good in a photo. i dont think anyone wants to be known as the photographer who makes fat people look good.

maybe it's my photojournalistic mentality but isn't recording and capturing a couples wedding or special event the photographers main responsibility?
if they arent that photogenic, maybe blame HMUA/MUA or their wardrobe lol

i view it as a challenge. call me naive, but if people feel great, they'll look great (for the most part). and of course with proper posing and PP, they'll look that much greater..
