I picked up a couple from NewEgg when they were on sale, just to try out. They are Maxwell Maxdata 8GB cards, 400X UDMA. I have a 1Dmk3.

Stuck them in the body and formatted the cards when new, test shot a few and deleted.......worked fine. I went out to shoot for the first time with them about 2 weeks ago. I noticed I could only review about 1 picture in every 30, the rest showed me and error message saying it couldn't display a preview, or it showed me a really tiny thumbnail and said I couldn't zoom. Got home, ripped all the images off with no issues......whew.

Today both of my nieces came over for an early Christmas, so I was snapping away as they were opening gifts. Earlier today I met a friend at the airport, and I showed him a secret spot for good pics.....stayed out there an hour or so, them came home. I probably took only 50 or so pics at the airport, I probably took 300 of the nieces. Once again, no preview for all......but I didn't sweat it. I rip the pics off, I only get about 60% of the pics, the rest are corrupted. :o

Anyone have any suggestions?

Just removed the CF card from my reader, then stuck it back in. Windows prompted to repair/recover data from the CF card.....so I let it work. I can now see the thumbnail of 100% of the pics, but when I click them to view fullsize, the large version is corrupted. Hmm......

Have 2 Maxell maxdata 16gb 400x CFs bought from B&H that I've been using for 4 months with no problems. Can't tell any difference between Transcend, Lexar Pro or Sandisk, all in the 400x speed range.

If these cards are labelled "Maxwell" it sounds like you might not have purchased the brand you thought you were buying :(

I bought two of those and have had no issues at all using them on 5D2 and 7D.

I think he's referring to you saying you have "Maxwell", and what you linked to is a "Maxell". If yours say "Maxwell", you've been snookered!

I've never had issues with a Maxell, or Maxwell card.... but then again, I've never used either ;)

You won't find a brand of card that is immune to having issues... but there are some which are preferred due to overall success rates (e.g. SanDisk and Lexar). Nonetheless, I'm sure you can find people who have had issues with either, or both of them as well.

I just received a pair of these: "Maxell 16GB CompactFlash Memory Card maxdata 400x" from B&H. I formated both them in my 7d, got about 10 shots before I get the following:
"Card cannot be accessed. Reinsert/change the card or format the card with the camera."

I reformat the the cards and get the same message when I try to use the camera. I tried to format them in the computer but the computer will not recognize the cards. I have a stack of 8gb Sandisks and have never encountered this problem. User error or return to sender?

There is no user error when you format in-camera, take a couple photos, and then suddenly card isn't recognized.

Send the junk back and get some good cards.
