I have a G6, I bought my Mom her very own A1100IS a few years back, and something has got me perplexed. Every time she or I, takes a picture on any setting, but mostly on EASY or PORTRAIT, it takes a long time, maybe 15-20 seconds to be ready to shoot again. I use nothing but Energizer rechargeable Nickel-Metal Hydride AA batteries, Fully Charged.

I have gone to Menu,
REVIEW and REVIEW INFO are both OFF.
FILE NUMBERING is CONTINUOUS.
RED EYE CORRECTION is ON.
AF-Point and AF-assist are both ON.
DISP. Overlay is OFF
IS MODE is Continuous.

What could be causing this problem with waiting SOOOO long to take the next picture? Thanks!!!

Things which prolong file writing...

Noise processing of file before writing file
Memory write problems in memory card, causing many retries
Memory write problems in the camera I/O

15 seconds is an unusually long time unless the flash needs to recharge. 3-6 would be more acceptable.
Are you saying that pushing the shutter button within 5 seconds of a previous picture nothing will happen?
Could be a cheap, full, or malfunctioning memory card. Have you reformatted the card?
