I'm practicing my black and white conversions and am pretty happy with the overall look of the image except the little girls face could use just a touch of brightening. Is there a way to do selective brightening in color or b&w?

Well that was so much easier than I'd ever imagined. Thanks Sledhed.

It is amazing how much another's view on the same issue or problem can make the solution so easy. Of course, the same can be said of a photograph for that matter... David

Then use the history brush to lighten just the area you want in a new layer. Not a great description, I know, but maybe someone can spell it out a bit better than me.
