Well we had such a beautiful day after university so I decided to take my camera and take few pictures from my friend. Critique is welcomed

Pretty subject and I like the sun as a hair light, but the background of cars is distracting. Also, it wouldn't be a bad idea to invest in a flash to eliminate the shadow on your subjects face. Good start though!!

I think youre doing real good on the getting the ligth, mood and angles in your pitcures, the only thing youll need to think about is get the background to fit the rest.. to much noise/ colours/contrasts in the background subtracts interest from the important things in the picture..

Still trying myself to grasp it all.. and its way to easy to loose one self in the subject and forget the rest.

the nature pictures aint really doing much to me.. would have been a good spot for your model though

keep it up ure doing great, its all about just getting out there and shoot :)

Thank you to both of you. I know about the background I hate it too but it was to late the sun was going down and we had to use it :) since we thought of that to late. I am just starting thank you.

These are all looking nice (especially facing your subject away from the sun, that's good) but I'm noticing two issues:

1. Rule of Thirds is being completely ignored
2. No fill light of any kind

You want to avoid putting your subject dead-center in your photos, and you need some form of catch light in the subject's eyes. Buy a reflector disk and either get a simple stand/tripod for it, or get someone to hold it for you to fill in dark areas of people's faces.

Try composing so your subject is positioned like this in the photo:

Faced away from the sun, flash/reflector to fill shadows and provide catch light, and offset to adhere to the rule of thirds. Do these three things, and your portraits will improve dramatically.

Other than the fact that she's dead center in each frame her face seems too dark in all of them. You needed some flash OR a reflector to get some light back on her face. Her legs are awkwardly positioned in #3 as well.

To get your friends face properly exposed try holding up your hand in front of your lens and taking the meter reading off that and set your exposure accordingly. Don't worry so much about the background being overexposed since that's not your primary subject.

My sister, the professional baker and cake decorator once told me that my camera takes great pics. My reply was that I thought her oven baked great cakes.
