Help with my next lens/lenses decision

I am an amateur who just upgraded from a Canon XT to a T3i and I need some help with my next lens.

My current setup is: T3i, 430EX II, Canon EF-S 18-55, & Canon EF-S 55-250

I am interested in a Macro lens to shoot portraits (Indoor&Out), flowers (In/Out), water drops, & insects.

I am thinking of the Canon EF-S 60mm f/2.8 Macro USM or the Canon EF 100mm f/2.8 Macro USM

I like the 60mm, because I could use it as my walk around lens, but If I go with the EF 100mm, I was thinking about the Canon 40mm EF f/2.8 STM or nifty fifty to go along with it for portraits.

So, if your budget is $450 - $700, which way would you go and why?

I am open to advice on any other lens setups.

Thanks in advance for your advice!

I went with the Tamron 90mm non-VC for price. I use manual focus anyway, and it's a lot of tripod work so IS not really needed. It left me with spare money for the 50 1.8 and the 40 pancake :)

Nice lens too. Get some great shots. But then all the macro lenses are very good.

With the exception of the insects (assuming they are alive) the 100mm macro is way too long on your crop, 160mm FF equivalent.

The long focal length makes it very difficult to keep parts of your object that are not directly in focus at acceptable sharpness. The long focal length stretches the heck out of the back of your scene, and with things like product photography you'd usually don't want that.

If you get a 50mm, too, it would of course be a waste to get a 60mm macro.

The 100mm macro is a great lens and a good companion for a 50mm f/1.4 or so. Just be aware that you probably can't throw enough light at the problem to make a whole scene sharp.

My imagine composition sucks. I need a heavier lens.

I found the 100 great on my 450D for portraits, flowers, and insects. Never tried water drops. I would have found the 60 too short for quite a few things.

Here are some samples with the 100 on crop:
