These guys were much less skittish than we're used to. Taken in the Sangre de Cristo range of the Rockies in Colorado. Natural morning light.

Really good colors with the flash. Did you use the "Better Beamer" or a straight flash?

According to his EXIF, he didn't use flash at all, plus, he mentions that he uses, " Natural morning light."
(One of the shots has the nictating lid on the eye making it look like 'steel-eye'.)

VERY NICE shots too, by the way, the best wild turkey shots I have seen.

Great turkey shots. The lighting is fantastic. How did you get so close.

Great crisp shots! The natural light and the snow really make them stand out.

Thanks for the kind words. The morning sun rising directly behind me and streaming through the trees was the source of the light. I have no idea why they let me get so close ... I took a bunch of shots as I kept getting closer thinking each one might be the last.

It was a surprisingly similar experience to snapping pics of horses ;)

Very nice, well done! It's amazing how many people think these birds are just all black when viewed from a distance.

These are great shots of Wild Turkey, the iridescent feathers show so well, something that is very hard to catch. This time of year is when their plumage is at it's best, cold temps may have helped in your getting so close, lighting was great, you did well in taking advantage of this outing, doesn't happen real often with these birds.
