A pic from my recent trip to Africa...it was for work so not a great deal of time to take photos...
This guy was on the road to Erindi..which is a private game reserve..i added a colour cast to it but can't remember what it is...maybe copper? Selenium possibly...

And the dune photo was taken just behind Walvis Bay near Dune 7....early in the morning, pretty surreal being in the dunes alone...

Cheers
Phil

Btw...with the dunes, I have only cropped the photo to a 16x9 format and tweaked the colours/contrast a touch...it looks kind of fake in the background but that was how it is....very velvety and painting like...

Nice shots. It looks like there is a lot of noise in the shadows of #2, though.

Yeah it does look noisy but I think it's the sand grain...not digital noise.

Very nice on both. I would LOVE to take a safari to Africa some time. I can't even imagine being able to right up close to the animals. Nice job.

while the background the Giraffe was in may add a bit to the photo, why not try cropping it so that most of the background is gone and the Giraffe is the only thing in the shot, also I'd love to see the colour version of the giraffe

Looks like you were fighting the bright midday harsh sun in #1, and add to that the light ground which is also reflective.

I like #2 nicely done... it projects tranquillity...

Yep it was certainly hot and around 1pm I think....we took a wrong turn from following iphone maps and it landed us in the middle of nowhere....was pretty funny...
I quite like the burnt out road..think I may have added to it myself, in fact it's been through some Nik software plug in also to get that look...but couldn't tell you exactly what..

#2 was in the morning...got to the dunes just before sunrise and watched the tones and colours change...it's an awesome feeling being in there by yourself...

#2 is freaking badass, but maybe that's just because I'm an abstract guy. I just really love how the colors and lines are working in #2. That golden sand works great with that blue sky, that one dark strip is really cool s a contrast to the brightness of the rest of the scene, and I just love the way that the lines work against each other.

Thanks guys...yeah it is quite abstract and even when I look at it, it appears kind of fake and painted but it isn't....
And am considering doing just that...making a big print!!!!
Cheers
