Hey, maybe its not exactly true, as I am just getting this lens back from canon service. This is my first shots with this gem as I dropped this baby before I could fire off 1 shot when I was trying to mount this 100 pound lens.

WHOA, is this lens heavy. forgot in the week canon had this baby. I find this lens fast to focus. I dont know why people say this lens is slow to focus. Maybe its that I have a 1D series camera?

Well enough anal cranial dysentery from me and feast yor eyes on this creamy buttery bokeh goodness. first shot is @ 1.6, second is 1.2 WOW WOW WOW.

Alright Dante!! I agree about the AF speed.......I think many people expect it to be lightning fast but it is not turtle-slow either! Nice shots and have fun with it........for portraits there is none better!!!

Thanks guys, I was out fixing up the diner when I got word that this baby got back in to my local shop. Went down to get it and shoot some. LCD does not do this lens justice! ;) In fact looking at the previews I was thinking, "so this is a 1500$ member of the trinity? BAH!" Well, I loaded the pics on the computer and, well... I wept. Beautiful. I am truely complete.

well, maybe except for the 24mm 1.4L . Then I can stop. Really. Seriously, this lens is awesome and I could not be happier with its focusing and finish. just wish it did not weigh 5 pounds!

May I ask, why not the 24-70L?

Great news that you have your lens back, Dante! It looks great.

How is the restaurant repair coming along? Do you have any idea when you can re-open?

Life is hard...but I just take it one photograph at a time.

Great news, Dante.

Hopefully, the news on the cleanup front is just as positive.

Nice looking photos, my friend :)

You are indeed complete - though I would consider trading my 24/1.4 for your 85/1.2. :)

Actually, I'm kidding. But I am certainly glad to see that you got the 85 back. It is on my short list. I hope that you get the diner straightened out after the flood. Your disposition on life is much better than mine - I'd have killed somebody with a cast iron skillet by now just to relieve tension. :)
