I just got an XT and so I shook it to get a feel for sturdyness and I didn't shake it in an extreme way though and something is moving inside. Is it the shutter or something. I'm just making sure that mine isn't weird and needs repair or XT's are really flimsy..

It's the metal brackets that hold the popup flash. It's normal.

P.S. Have fun with your XT!

I too heard a rattling and thought the camera was broken since it was a refurb from Canon that we got today. it was indeed the metal arm/guides for the flash like Jackal said.

Why do so many people seem to shake their cameras when they get them? Sheesh!

Rattling is probably the flash rails - when you here the small clink as you go from landscape mode to portrait mode, that's the orientation sensor.

Once again, though, why shake your camera? While it probably won't harm it, you're not doing the mirror mechanism any favors when you do that.

It's the rotation sensor thing, it moves around inside a little box somewhere in the top of the camera.

Exactly! You already opened the box so you don't have to shake it to figure out what is inside.

I have been using cameras for almost 25 years now - and I can't ever remember shaking one to hear what it sounds like :)

I didn't shake it, it made the sound when I was moving it around so I could put the battery and flash card inside.
