It seems like, lately, pictures of guitars are a little popular here. So, I took the 20D and the 85mm f/1.8, and took some shots of my Martin D-40:

Lighting was the pits (livingroom lamps), but I'm thinkin' the new 20D performed well at an ISO of 800...

I like #3 a lot but I think WB is off on all of them? I know when using just a desk lamp things do get yellow a bit.

Cheers

The WB is probably off a tad. The guitar top is definitely a yellowed piece of Spruce, though.

Thanks!

silly me :o
But I would apply a bit of USM, and play with curves in a red channel to get that yellow more vibrant and some green for a BG.;)
Playing with red channel curves brings digital image more to film look(color) than anything else.

Cheers,
Sasa

Well, personally, I like Taylor just a little more. Hey, Martin's not writing my paycheck!

I'm going to try some more shots of this one with some better lighting, and watch my white balance. Either way, I'm pretty amazed at how well the 20D performs at ISO 800. With the 300D, the level of noise would've been offensive...

Well, the guitar that's pictured is a Martin. I haven't photographed the Taylor.

Yet...

Looking good Steve. I know about using living room lamps, seems like I 'm always dragging lamps around the house in attempt to get more light. Actually in the thread under this one with my rifle, I did that in the living room last night. Love the 50 1.8 for that.
