Portraits with a Wide Angle

Was using the wide angle for some sports shots and thought this portrait looked cool. Which one do you all like better, 1 or 2? C&C welcome as always.

yea 2 looks like u forgot to crop it but 1 with a strong crop line across the top of his head looks like u did it on purpose so thats cool

Actually both are how they were shot from the camera (no cropping). I did do 1 like that on purpose but figured I'd do a full shot (2) just to see if that would be better.

yea i figured they werent cropped but #2 looks like it needs it IMO

What crop would you recommend? I feel that #1 is just a stronger photo overall and probably won't use #2 for anything.

Number 1 is wonderful with the perspective and colors.

I like #1 except for the fingers chopped off, the top of the pic crop looks fine though........#2 could be cropped to that. Colours and perspective are great.

I really like #1, but I think it would be better if his fingers and the top of his head weren't missing.

I you'd get the fingers, you'd get one foot over two. Result may be worst. And we alreay have one full hand so the composition works. I love 1 and it works 100% to me. Gread shot.
I like #3 but he should watch at smthg els than garbage cans.

I like #1 it is more inline with photos I see in sports mags .... but the trash cans a many

I like #1. The wide angle perspective really works here. I think the trash cans look good in the shot, especially with their long shadows (I would like to have seen the steel trash can knocked over on its side). I think the lines of the clouds lead my eye around the image.

Hard to chose, I think No. 2 gets it as has already been said, with the choping of of the figers and top of the cap in one, although it does seem a bit of a stronger image with being that closer, and had you had gotten both hands and the top of the head in I think I would have chosen that image out of the two. But I am not too keen on the background, the benches are not to bad, but a bit distracting but those bins don't do anything for the shot what so ever in my mind. Maybe crop image two just slightly, and take out the bins with the good old clone tool.
