Glencoe in the Scottish Highlands

I took a drive up to Glencoe yesterday, and it was pretty cold and dull, so much so that I was using a tripod much of the time. Here are a few of the shots:

Great shots. Cant wait to get up there myself. Are the places youve shot quite easy to get too? Just dont know how much walking time im going to have up there.

Thanks adebass. The places are easy to get to, and photos 1,2,3,5 are virtually just off the main A82.

• 1 and 2 are of Lochan Nah Achlaise which is on the left of the A82 just before you get to Glencoe proper.
  
• 3 is taken on the road up to the White Corries chairlift and is looking towards Buchaille Etive Mhor (Great shepherd of Etive)
  
• 4 is taken from Loch Etive looking back up the valley towards the A82.
  
• 5 is taken from the start of the walk up Buchaille Etive Mhor, which begins at the A82.

Cheers John, very useful info. I do have a car yeah, quite looking forwrd to the drive actually. Im about 2 mins from the start of the A82 so its gonna be difficult to get lost at least.

Thanks Stan. I enjoyed being at the waterside taking them as it was nice and peaceful, and apart from the occasional car in the distance, the only sound was of the ice creaking and cracking - very atmospheric.

True! If you couldn't find your way with that start, maybe you should stay away from the wilderness!

I had actually intended doing some hillwalking as well yesterday and the car was loaded with rucksacks and ice-axes etc. My plan to take the chair-lift up Meall a' Bhuiridh and then walk over to Creise to get photos of Buchaille Etive Mhor, but as the lift was off, and there wasn't too much daylight left, my trip became purely photographic.

Just in case anyone is interested in the correct way to pronounce the Gaelic mountain names, a great site is http://www.munromagic.​com. Here is how to pronounce Meall a' Bhuiridh (just click on the "pronounciation" link on that page).

All very nice, I espeially like 2 and 3. The way you caputered the reflections in the water and the white house against the starck background. Vey nice.

I'm pretty sure that neither building is the youth hostel as they don't look like the photos on this link (Glencoe Hostel and Bunkhouse). In any case, both buildings are pretty small anyway!

Very nicely done! My favorite was the first shot. Loved the subject, composition, and the color. The little ice circle around the rock in the foreground was a very nice tough.

The white house in question here is called blackrock cottage

heres the relevant details for anyone whos interested in renting it

The house is owned by the Ladies Scottish Climbing Club

It Sleeps 10 in Bunks has full electric and authentic coal fire

and strictly no camping anywhere near it or surrounding areas

its can be hird but only to secretaries of recognised clubs
