My USB 2.0 external hdd transfers usually around 17 mb/sec. When plugged into a 3.0 port it runs at 34mb/sec.
So, I guess USB devices are sometimes limited by the computer port?

Best way to to use CrystalMark test to see average speed. Canon (60D Gripped | 18-135mm f3.5-5.6 IS | 40mm f2.8 | 50mm f1.8 | 70-200 F4L IS| 430 EXII)

I have experienced this and tested this with a variety of storage devices/media.
