Hi all,

Those who have SmugMug accounts are probably familiar with their "Popular Photos" galleries. These are virtual galleries of photos determined to be most often viewed, voted for, shared, printed, etc. They are not necessarily the account holder's favorites, but are ranked instead by whatever algorithmic magicalc SmugMug has devised for this feature. So the specific images found in anyone's "Most Popular" gallery are automatically selected based on some kind of cumulative calculation of anonymous visitor feedback and view logging which changes over time. Of course many of them are favorites of ours too… but just knowing which ones others like most is always helpful and encouraging to us.

Here are a few images currently appearing in our Most Popular gallery...

amazing as usual Kenn.
I talked a buddy into an SX50 a few days ago.
He is pretty happy with it and he has a serious DSLR kit including 7d, 100-400L, and many other L lenses.
Thanks for sharing

Well, I can see why they made the "most popular" list Kenn because they are all fabulous. Happy new year to you as well.

All great shots Ken. I have purchased a SX50 myself to try out. Could you please give me a little advice on this camera.
1)- What focusing feature do you use?
2)- What setting do you use? ( AV , TV , M , AUTO....)
3)- How much post processing do you usually perform?
4)- Off camera flash used?
Thanks for any help you can offer.

Nice shots! I also bought an sx50, for my daughter to use and also to play with myself. I've been pretty impressed with it so far. I plan to do some head-to-head comparisons between it and my t2i/100-400 combo.

Thanks Jeremy
These small-sensor superzooms are no match for the 7d/L-class rigs in challenging conditions. But they do have their strength$, and many serious birders might enjoy adding one to their DSLR kit.

You can find the answers to all these questions and many additional tips on shooting with superzooms on our blog... you might start here for SX50-specific info:

Thanks Doug,
I'd love to see those comparisons if you post them.

Thanks again and Happy New Year all,

That last shot made me chuckle...what a look(s)! And that *mumble* hawk, he looks almost angelic with that head tilt.
Lovely as usual all around...
