ii)I also have new 580EX once 380 repaired can they be used in conjunction?

The 380EX won't work as an optical slave with the 580EX. However, using Yongnuo YN-622C transceivers, partial off-camera compatibility is possible. See page 5 of Clive's user guide.

I know it's an old thread but this info may come in handy for someone....

The Y17-2069 is the the hotshoe part number for the 380EX and 540EZ but it also fits the 430EZ which has a part number of Y17-1034.

Years ago I broke the "foot" on my 430EZ and ordered a new one from Canon. The parts list for the 430EZ shows Y17-1034 but the part they sent me was Y17-2069. It fit my 430EZ perfectly. There was probably a number change at some point. I ordered two just in case I ever needed another one. I sold the 430EZ many years ago but recently found the extra part in my parts bin.

Procamera repair also shows them to be the same 380EX 430EZ 540EZ: http://www.procamerarepair.com …FLASH-HOT-SHOE_p_914.html (external link)
