Mine is passable for sharpness at f/1.4 Eddie. I get torn as I do think the 85 is a better general performer but I prefer 50mm....

I bought the nifty the other week after I had to sell my 35L (needed the cash) and just havent been happy with it especially wide open. I know its not going to be a 35L but I at least want it not to be super soft. The 1.4 seems to fit the bill nicely Well, if you want a sharp lens, get the sigma 35 1.4...according to what I read it's on pair with 35L and for a significantly smaller budget. I plan to buy it.

I plan to buy it. My 50 1.4 is doing good wide open. I mean I don't shoot for living, so for my personal needs it's fine...anyway I started to use it a lot more on f/2. After the purchase I used it all the time at f/1.4 as I loved the bokeh thing which was new to me. Later on I found out that a good picture as not the one where you get one eye sharp and all the rest is out of focus. At first I thought the more bokeh the better, 'cause bokeh is cool right? ![]() I still love my 50 f/1.4. I use it all the time! So yeah, buy it I believe you will not regret. Financially the siggy 35 is out my reach at the moment as this is just a hobby. I sold my 35L for what you get a siggy 35 new for, its gutting. As long as the 50 1.4 is usable below 2.8 I will be happy even if not wide open. My nifty sold today so I will be purchasing one soon Leica M11 | Leica Q2 | Sony α7RV
