Vacation? Tired of the cold? Nice beach. I drove on it a long time ago. Almost got my car stuck in the sand.

Yeah. Hard part is that I have to keep an eye on him to ensure that he's not compromising safety or quality. This guy is standing in his grave and just keeps digging. Timing is the only thing keeping him around.

I really hate the fact that his ineptitude brings out the nasty in the rest of us.

Does he work for you? Are you responsible for the quality of his work? If so, then it sucks, fire him. If not, let things happen and force his managers hand.

Daytona 500. NASCAR.

He doesn't work for me, but he works under me. I have to oversee his work when the manager is not there to do so. It would be easy to just let things happen, but then the customer suffers and it's bad for business. We can stand to lose some of the potential upsales for now, but we cannot let bad work go out the door.

If it wasn't for the manager going on vacation the kid would be gone, and he may still be gone before then. It will just leave me in a very tight spot being the only person in the shop.

It really sucks when you are given the responsibility without the authority. My old boss use to put me in that position all the time. I really hated it so I feel for you. Nothing you can do but tough it out and talk to his boss when he returns. Dude needs to go.

Exactly. Boss is gone on March 1st and returns on the 12th. So we have 4 more days that he has to survive if he's gonna be around for a few more weeks. The boss has essentially said that the kid is gonna be fired on the 12th unless some miracle happens.

In a strange twist of fate, my wife is in FL and I am home dog-sitting. Daytona was on the list for this year, but family has to come first.

I'd love to go to a race. Price is a big hurdle though.

I go to the small local tracks from time to time and they are fun to photograph, but other than that, it can get pretty boring.

And they are off...
Left turn, left turn, left turn, Left turn, left turn, left turn, Left turn, left turn, left turn, Left turn, left turn, left turn...

And the winner is...

:):):)

Demo derbys and tractor pulls are more exciting.

True. We have an oval track nearby and a couple of drag strips. I've been to the enduro races a couple of times when my sister and BIL were driving in them. Tractor pulls and derbies always catch my attention.

As for NASCAR, it is boring if all you're watching for is who gets over the line first. I really enjoy the technical aspect of everything, how tiny little changes make big differences and how everything affects performance. There is so much going on if you look for it, and have the ability to understand it.

It much more fun to watch when they run the road course at Sears Point.
