What is this "'ump day" of which you speak?

Hey Dan - when do we want to get together and shoot? Pick a day (assuming Andrea gives us a miss)! Jenn's going to get washed away wherever it goes. :{)#

I just went down to Rival Bikes and ordered 2 Maxxis Crossmark tyres for my MTB. They are suposed to be better on hard packed cross country stuff like I ride on. The centre is nearly fully covered for less rolling resistance and make speed easier, yet it still has good lugs off centre for cornering on gravel etc

Those look quite interesting! I put new tires on my bike a couple of years ago, they have a ton of grip but they howl like crazy on pavement.

The ones I have on at the moment do the same Mel (Kenda Slant 6). These ones are supposed to be quieter. The kenda's are worn out on the back and they've only done 1,000klm.

I never wore out my tires, the rubber disintegrated. They were on the bike for about 12 years.

I don't put near the miles on my bike that most people do. I love biking, but the bike is best on trails and there just aren't many trails around here.

You need to head out and find some Mel. I dump mine in the back of the wagon early on a Saturday or Sunday morning and head off to different places to ride. Going somewhere else that you don't know so well is always more interesting than the usual afternoon slog around the local area. I'm lucky, I have hundreds of kilometers of fire trails within half an hours drive. When I get home of an arvo though I just ride the local area and it gets to be a grind after a while.

We have lots of conservation areas around here with lots of hiking trails, but pretty much every one of them forbids bicycles. I found one great area - Hay Swamp Conservation Area - that has good trails. Went there one time with Kevin for a day of riding. Problem is, it's 90 minutes away.

I also much prefer riding with someone.

KFC Hot & Spicy for dinner tonight. Must be over 10 years since I've eaten KFC, hope the arteries can handle it!

It's not the arteries Jim, it is whether the nether area will have the hairs singed off when it comes out..........

These look interesting. I have hybred tires now but they are for #$%^ on dirt paths so I'm looking to move to something a bit more aggressive in dirt.

I go through a set about every two years. In Illinois we did a lot of road and gravel path riding so they get chewed up pretty quick. Mose of what we have down here are pretty rough trails so the riding is slower and not so hard on them, until you hit a rock that is.
