Went out to shoot hummingbirds and wasn't having much luck, so I switched to my macro lens to get this Robber Fly that was having a snack close to me. No sooner did I switch lenses than a hummer started hitting the flowers I had been sitting near . Anyway, I got the bug(s):

Nice robber. Sort of looks like a big 'skeeter.

Not sure why, but call me JJ.

Great shot of the Robber! Those things are so damn freaky. I found one a few years ago in the White Mountains along the California/Nevada border.

Would you believe I shot that with the 100-400, not a macro lens?

Robber Flies always make me think of the movie The Dark Crystal...

By gelfling hand or else by none.

Flu? Or food poisoning?

I would think that food poisoning would be more violent. Never have had it, so I really don't know. I thought maybe it was at first, I know of three other people who have the same thing and we were all at the church picnic. But that was Sunday afternoon and this didn't hit till Tuesday, seems like too long of a wait.

With my job I just don't ever know what I'll come in contact with. Touching people's keys, steering wheels, gear shifter, door handles, etc puts me in contact with a lot of germs.

Damn, that sucks.

Nah, it doesn't suck. Over the course of the past few years things at work have gone from bad to hellacious, and every day since January 2009 I've wished it would just end. My wish is finally coming true... I'm actually looking forward to June 28th!

Firstly you feel sick Mel, then you start to sweat, your joints can ache, then your stomach starts cramping, then it starts flowing from both ends and you feel like you are possibly going to die, well, in a bad case anyway. You can also get the shakes as well. Hard to tell at first if it is the flu, but the giveaway is when it starts coming out, then you know it is food poisoning.

Well, I hope you enjoy it. My job keeps getting worse as well. I plan on retiring once I'm 60... About 2.5 years from now. Can't wait.

Mel.. hope you feel better soon.

That kinda sounds familiar.

Felt tired. Sore tummy. Tired. Barely could stomach lunch. Went home (had no work to do so someone was going home anyways). Puked up everything. Spiked a fever. Stayed in bed with chills/sweats for 24 hours. Only drank water and even that just ran through. Haven't puked since but anything I do eat or drink comes through too fast. Still had a low grade fever this morning.

Yep, food poisoning Mel. Classic case by the sounds of it. Just stay hydrated, you can end up in hospital if you don't. The best thing is to go to the chemist and buy something like Hydrolite, it comes in different flavours (not that you'd want a flavour) and puts back the electrolytes and stuff you puke and crap out. If it stays around go see the doctor, bad cases can be very bad.
