Too hot today for bugs or hummingbirds, but I got this early. Every time I see a close-up of a dragonfly's wing, the leading edge reminds me of those balsa wood & tissue planes I'd build as a kid.

A real bonus would be if it would support Flash as well. All of my online training courses use Flash. Android devices have no problem with Flash. My 580ex can control my ancient 420ex. Just checked the manual and it sure looks like it'll control (or can be controlled by) previous EX-series flash units, including the in-camera master functions. puddlepirate44 wrote in post #6158548 OK, I'll chime in, tho' I've never done so on this matter before, and hopefully this will be my last. If I were to take the dive today, right now, into the dSLR realm, I would probably go Nikon, because they are, apparently, according to many talking heads, the big dog on the block.... for now. When I came into the ballpark back in '05 with the Xt, Canon was enjoying many years of being tops. Did they rest on their photographic laurels? Did they fiddle while L's burned? Perhaps. It reminds me of this recent story I read concerning this runner in the Olympics. She was doing the hurdles and she misjudged her distance slightly, nudged a hurdle and came in 7th instead of 1st. Didn't take much. Doesn't mean that she's a Gold Medal runner, it just means that she blew it on that race, that one time. Canon missed the hurdle. Nikon came in first, got the gold while Canon didn't. This time. I think it's been a while since Canon has had to really run for their money, literally. Is the upcoming 50D the answer? I don't think so. Too many "MP's" on a small sensor. But the engineering for that camera is already, at least, a couple of years old. I'd be interested in seeing what Canon produces two years from now. That, I believe, is when we'll see Canon's answer to Nikon's challenge. Will I switch to Nikon? I doubt it, unless I'm ready to "jump ship" every time the other guys produce a bigger, better mousetrap. I think that we've entered into an era wherein Canon, Nikon and others will start "leap-frogging" each other, technologically speaking. Perhaps I'm just being overly optimistic, and I've been accused of that before. When I see how Canon is behaving in regards to the M3 debacle and the situation with Jake, I see an oligarchy being shaken with a strong wind of reality. It won't last long. Sure, I'd like to see an XXD camera, full frame, wx sealed, but I may have to wait. I'm OK with that. I can barely use my 40D properly as is. Between the M3 blow up, Nikon's introduction of paradigm shifting products and a society that has come to expect big changes in the technological scheme every two or three months, Canon shooters want to see Canon answer Nikon right now. That ain't gonna happen. I like my gear. I haven't had an urge to get a lens or body in a long time. Sure, if someone were to hand me a nice 5D or 1Ds, I wouldn't refuse it, but the 40D does just fine for what I need. Nikon is good, but they will be second to Canon again... for a bit, then Nikon, then Canon, then Nikon, then some new kid on the block. By then, I hope to have a new Hassy or Leaf system and I won't care anymore. ![]() Dang, Mark, I never seem to be on when you're around. Have a good sleep, mate. Just came across this post of Puddle's back in August 2008. Thought it still seemed relevant (as he generally does). Jon

And there were many things we really liked about nikon. Except the lenses. Some of the bokeh was weird. Definitely none of it was something tdf. I loved their color renditions on the bodies though. And the sturdiness of the bodies. And the AF was excellent in several bodies. But the bottom line was that all my favorite photos (looking back) came from my ds2 and my 70-200F4is. ..
