We have them in limited numbers over here in Australia as well. These days most are run by different church groups, the scouts or boys brigade. I remember going to a couple when I was a kid, one on the Gold Coast and another near Tamworth down in NSW. It was always fun and exciting as a kid. You'd always be sneaking off and getting into mischief and giving the carers hell haha Lloyd

One of our best was that we snuck into the head mistresses cabin. She was quite a large and very well endowed woman. We um.. borrowed her bras and girdles and ran them up the flag pole. We also shimmied up the pole and tied the halyard a good way up the pole so that they couldn't be lowered. At the morning flag ceremony, there they were, the quadrupple Ds flappin in the breeze. Not sure why, but call me JJ.

The mill owner gave us permission to take whatever we wanted from the scrap pile....we dragged countless boards up the hill behind the farm and built a primitive cabin overlooking a stream. We built a small dam on the stream to make a swimming hole. Spent most of our summer nights up there. People that know me call me Dan

L.J.G. "Not brigth enough" More info | Jun 19, 2013 22:21 | #7213 We all used to camp out in a cave not far from our homes. As kids we'd wonder off on Saturday morning and not come home till Sunday arvo. Being out in the bush our parents never seemed to have to worry about us, they new we'd only be in the bush somewhere catching yabbies to boil up for dinner over the campfire and camping out in our cave. How times have changed! Lloyd

Camp was so much more than just the location and the activities. Camp taught me important life lessons like baseball. What to do at first base with games like spin the bottle, what to do at second when they got old enough for there to be a second base. And third, ah yes, what a base that was. Seriously, it was all about the friends and community more than the location though the place was a lot of fun as well. "Baseball", Spin the Bottle and assorted other entertainment was not lacking from our summer experience. It wasn't unusual to have 20-30 kids around the campfire most evenings. Some had to go home...some spent the night. It was very educational. People that know me call me Dan
