I love my plasma, but when it comes time to replace it, I'll get an LED. LED's have fewer issues with glare from ambient lighting, are lighter, use less power and run cooler.

I've heard that plasmas are notorious for high RF noise. Have you found this to be the problem?

We still have a CRT television. When that goes we'll be forced to decide what we want in the way of HiDef TV. Since we don't have to have the top of the line picture quality, price will likely be a deciding factor. This is where the exchange is an advantage. We can save a bunch on the sales tax.

what is RF noise? (I haven't a clue...I don't follow tv tech. lol)

And thanks Harm. That explained it nicely.

radio frequency...

how would they be high on a tv, that is plugged in via an HDMI cable? a direct link would mean that it wouldn't be apt to and rf noise, the circuits should be good enough to handle any interference..

unless you have THAT many wireless systems going on

I am guessing here right now...

Poked around a bit on the web and it seems you are correct. These things are serious RF emitters especially on the MF and HF bands. I can see why the ham guys are up in arms over these. I don't know how they get away with it.

How would they pass CE testing? Aren't they supposed to provide adequate shielding to protect from rf emissions?

Well, I wouldn't want my kid sitting 5 feet away from one for any length of time. I'm a bit touchy when it comes to RF. Sure it's benign or so the experts claim, but RF can be a powerful mutagen hammering on those little DNA bonds. We got too much RF already so why place something that strong right in your living room.

We use to have this one place called Luigi Wong's that served Italian/Chinese food. It sounds weird but was actually quite good.
