3" of rain so far today. Raining at 1/8" every 10min, top wind gust was 26kt. It'll be pass me in another hour or so.

Fertilised the front yard, the rain will either wash it in or away. Google IQLDBRIS29

Oddly enough, we're at nearly 2" of rain since about mid afternoon yesterday.

Supposed to continue p*ssing through mid-day Monday.

Brasso? Toothpaste? Soft Scrub? All should clean up the brass part of the crest....probably will have to resort to touching up the paint.

Yeah. I have a couple theories on how to paint the black part. No hurry on it, but I want it to look good eventually.

Both our neighbours have lost trees in their yards, the carport over the road headed west and it is not showing any signs of letting up anytime soon. All the major highways north have been cut, at least it has stopped raining up there but the water is still heading down the rivers and causing flooding.

I've been taking a lot of heat over on the Bike Forum because of my 'old' work stand. I decided to do something about it. Meet Jane, the hovercraft.

What was wrong with the bike stand?

Tom - just tell the critics - "old bike - old stand" I like the hovercraft stand since it doesn't appear to take a lot of space. My garage is full of tools and devices I use infrequently. Where can I get one?

burnet - congrats on the publications!

This (external link) is a much better stand. Unlike mine which has a toggle clamp, this has an infinitely adjustable screw clamp. It accommodates a wider range of tube sizes for clamping the bike onto the stand. Mine only does two, which was all that was available when I bought it. Now they have skinny tubes, fat tubes, fatter tubes, and the ungodly fat carbon fiber tubes. I can't mount my road bike on it because of the enormous top tube.

Park stands are available almost anywhere.

Tom - I don't know if you're into classical music, but we watched an incredible performance last night by Yo-Yo Ma and Kathryn Stott. Their next stop is Palm Desert on the 31st. Highly recommended if you like that sort of thing.

Thanks, Tim. That would be at the McCallum Theatre, and tickets there are extremely difficult to come by, but I will check. I am a big fan of Yo Yo Ma.
