I've been taking a lot of heat over on the Bike Forum because of my 'old' work stand. I decided to do something about it. Meet Jane, the hovercraft.

This (external link) is a much better stand. Unlike mine which has a toggle clamp, this has an infinitely adjustable screw clamp. It accommodates a wider range of tube sizes for clamping the bike onto the stand. Mine only does two, which was all that was available when I bought it. Now they have skinny tubes, fat tubes, fatter tubes, and the ungodly fat carbon fiber tubes. I can't mount my road bike on it because of the enormous top tube.

Park stands are available almost anywhere.

Are you sure these aren't the same people in the gear forums that declare your camera obsolete as soon as a new model is released?

Hi all,

Still here. Rather restless nights sleep being woken by the wind every few hours. We had 6"+ of rain yesterday and 40-50km/h winds are still hitting us. Rain has eased somewhat, I just wish the winds would stop. Might walk around the neighbourhood later this morning and see what the damage is.

I'm always up for a good reason to head out on a road trip. This weekend I have a good excuse - I have to hit the highway, work is telling me too!

2013 has brought around stricter emissions testing procedures. The vehicles computer is now also tested, to ensure that the vehicle has run all of it's self test procedures. If it hasn't run them the vehicle automatically fails the e-test. We have just sold a van that has been sitting on the lot for a long time and it has not run the self tests. So they gave it to me to drive for the weekend until it runs the tests, and they will only run the tests during "cruise" conditions - which means highway driving. So now that we have the perfect excuse, Dad and I decided to hit up Red Lobster for a yummy lunch.

And by the time I get to work tomorrow my truck will be all warm and dry from sitting in the shop. Best way to get all that snow off of it. :)

We don't have any emissions testing here Melody.

Have a fun drive.

Thanks, Tim. That would be at the McCallum Theatre, and tickets there are extremely difficult to come by, but I will check. I am a big fan of Yo Yo Ma.

I know what you mean about tickets being hard to come by. We wanted to see Wynton Marsalis when he comes up here later this spring. It was sold out almost immediately. Hopefully he'll come back to perform in the new San Francisco jazz hall that just opened.

QUOTED IMAGE

So, is that the reason you decided to ditch your old tripod? You found a lighter alternative? :{)#

Keep your snow Mel, I've had enough to last a lifetime. I prefer my nice 75 degree day today, walking around in shorts and a tee.

And sunsets. Playing around with some hand generated HDRs today. 2 images, First f/8 1/8000 ISO100 and the second image f/40, 1/8000, ISO 100. I actually got some sun spots. I'm gonna have to get me a decent solar filter though. So much diffraction blur at f/40.
