Failing to capture the NYE fireworks tonight from my planned vantage point I ended up just chilling on the side of a mountain alone with my camera, which turned out to be pretty awesome. The moon lit up the mountains around me but wasn't bright enough to glare out the stars. Nothing beats being outside alone to wind down from another year passed! Here was the shot of the night!

On a side note, does anyone know which star or planet the bright one in the center is?

Beautiful shot. I believe it to be Jupiter and the cluster of stars above and right of it to be Pleiades.
