Wilson - Grand Rapids, MI (12.28.12)

I love these guys because they're so energetic & so easy to shoot. No photo pit for this show, so I was stuck up front & center getting pushed around a bit by the mosh pit behind me. At one point I got knocked down hard but some massive bro standing next to me grabbed me before I hit the floor. I owe that guy a beer!

Great shots! Never heard of these guys but Ive been to a few shows at the intersection. Might have to check them out sometime.

Thanks! Yeah, never heard of these guys either until this past summer but apparently they're blowing up. They're from Detroit and just got signed to a label and were voted best new metal band by some magazine in 2012. Definitely check them out if you can, they put on a killer show!

#1 is killer, but #2 is the absolute bomb! What an awesome shot! Love it!

Thanks! Yeah, it was all ambient. Another great thing about shooting Wilson is that they always bring their own stage lights. And one of the band members actually controls all the lighting from the stage with a modified guitar that has buttons & switches drilled into the fretboard. It took me a few shows before I realized that he wasn't actually playing anything and just controlling the stage lights.

Where was he headed with that kick drum?
