Happy New Year everyone..

This Crane Hawk is the only hawk species that is classified Code 5 (accidental) by the ABA (American Birding Asso.)

The last time this species was recorded in North America was in 1988 (Texas) ...according to National Geo Field Guide to N.America Birds.....

I certainly am not gonna wait for him to return again and I'd captured this one in Mexico following some birders trip report on the web...Still, it took me a few trips to have finally seen him !!!

And this is also my personal 500th species of North America Birds In flight...

Hope you enjoy these shots.

Pretty awesome.
To get a shot or 2 of a rare bird is nice but to get great flight shots is even better.
Congrats.

I was tempted to ask if you were sure it weren't really a Cooper's Hawk, but this is too magnificent to joke about. Congratulations on your diligence and excellent skills in photographing this bird. These have rank among the best.

That is terrific. No, not just the great pics, but 500 different species?

Heck, I'm 55 years of age and I just saw my first owl in the wild recently. I think it's special (and it is to me) when I spot a red tail hawk.
