Does any one know if Canon is planning to debut the sucessor to the 20D this year? Maybe at the CES? Or the upcoming PMA 2006 show?

Nikon just released it's D200. A very capable DSLR. According to the 2 test reports already out (and of course many more on the way). And while the 20D would be considered competition for the D200 the 20D is more of an "entry level" DSLR. If only a slight step up from the XT. While the D200 would be considered a "middle of the pack" type of camera with pro features.

Or, do you think the Nikon D200, is Nikon's answer to the 5D? And that Canon is unlikely to put out a more affordable version of the 5D? They say the D200 offers "comparable" performance to the 5D but is 50% less expensive. :)

Thanks.

Recommend doing a search on the forum.

In the meantime, Yes rumors say Canon is likely to release a replacement for 20D at PMA 2006 in Florida in Feb.

And they are likely to release an upgrade to 1 series in Fall at Photokina 2006.

Everything else is speculation.
You can forget CES they would have announced it already if they were.

Oh and the D200 is not in the same class as the 5D, it is however competition for the 20D.
