Hi,

I've gone out on a quest to make a half-decent B&W fine-art shot and from my different tries, this is what I think is the best so far. C&C is welcome. Rip it to pieces, as long as your arguments are constructive.

Shot hand-held at 1/250, ISO 125 at around 75mm (shot on an old zoom lens).

I'm surprised there are no other replies...

I think it looks bad-ass! Must be killer printed large with all those sharp details. :)

For C&C it shows contrast, but my eye searches unsuccessfully for a subject. You have a plane of the craggy cliff and a background sky but no foreground interest or leading line to the point of the photo. It somewhat reminds of a Bev Dolittle print and I am searching the contrasting areas for hidden horses or something, but not finding them. Just snow covered rocks.

Hope that helps

I agree somewhat with windridge. I like the contrast and texture of the rocks, but there is no definate subject or object to focus on. Do you have a shot with the rock cliffs and some of the view below? It looks like there is a nice view in the bottom corner of the photo. Maybe a shot with one of the trees and some of the view or rocks below it, where the tree becomes the focus?

Thanks guys, that helps a lot and I definitely agree with you. I agree there's no subject. I think the composition is good, but there is certainly something missing. I'll go out tomorrow again!

The 2nd one is a good shot but it would have made it more appealing (to me) if the light was highlighting the top ridge instead of the middle mountian...but thats just me. It still looks cool
