I've always just used Photoshop, but Microsoft ICE has a good reputation.

I've never used it myself, but as Tony mentioned, ICE has been discussed favorably here.

Hugin also has a good reputation, though I've never used it.

I usually use Photoshop. Lightroom usually plays really nice with Photoshop's auto-align for stitching panos. In Lightroom, you select your images, right-click on one image, choose "Merge to panorama in Photoshop" (or whatever it's called), then go have a sandwich while it puts 'em all together. For me, this works very nicely about 75% of the time, with no unnecessary effort on my part.

I need to practice with some other software like Hugin for the ones that Photoshop doesn't automatically figure out.

PTGui (external link), but I'm doing 360x180s, and my needs are probably different from yours. :) Hugin (external link)would be my alternative recommendation.
