I have a problem and am not sure how to word it in a search. I would like it if someone could help me -- or direct me to a tutorial or video that will help me figure out how to fix this.

As you can see, this guy has tape on one side of his glasses. He was happy to have the photo taken that way, but I want to see if I can somehow copy the GOOD side of his glasses and replace the bad side with it (sort of a copy-and-paste scenario,) but, again, not sure how I would refer to this technique.

I have a little experience with PSE, but am about 99% Lightroom, so really lost here.

Thanks for any help! :)

You would need to use lasso tool to cut it out, copy and paste. Erase it to blend. Then new layer with clone tool to patch it up. No quick fix, time and a good eye for detail. Would be easier to reshoot if thats an option. If its a paid gig may be worth checking out services thread an pay someone with experience in such a thing. Hope this helps

Since you'll be using the side with the hinge, you'll also want to use the Transform tool. PSE's Help is pretty good with this sort of thing. Or Google for "photoshop transform tool".

Not perfect. But you basically select the "good stuff" from the right hand side and CTRL+J to get it to a new layer. CTRL+T and then right click inside the transform to rotate horizontal. Decrease the opacity of that layer if you need help seeing where it should go. CTRL+T to get back into free transform, and move it into place. Add a black layer mask and paint to with white on the layer mask to reveal the fixes. I did the eye, frame, and hinge separately.

Again, not perfect, but gives you an idea. Very do-able. This was about 10 minutes at most.

Pretty much did like Dave. I made a selection of the frame, transformed, and masked. Then did the same with part of the eye. A little cloning clean up and some light d&b to blend in.

Dennis wins. I'm going to tell myself it's because he spent more time on his version. I'm sure that's it. =)

Oh, you guys ROCK! Great examples and I will certainly play with it. I wasn't sure what tools to use or how to phrase it for searches. Yes, it was a paid shoot and I did take pics without the glasses (after insisting,) but he really didn't mind and wanted that in! I just wanted to see if I could take it out and show him an alternative. :) Thanks again -- both are very good examples! I hope to be able to learn a lot more with PSE over time. It's truly stunning what you can do. :)

I'm OK with all the steps, except for the black layer mask. It appears that I can't use layer masks in PS Elements? Well, I'll see what else I can do.

Or if you're on an earlier version, search for "Grant's Tools".

Well, this is what I got. I know there is more fine detail work I could do, but I am still learning PSE and I find that the more I mess with it, the more unnatural it starts to look. (Also, I was not asked to remove the tape, so not knocking myself out over it -- I just wanted to show them an option.) Thanks again for the awesome instructions and samples!!

Thanks! There are definitely flaws, but it's helped whet my appetite to learn more (and he now has an option.) :)
