I agree the focus could have been a little (a lot?) more dead-on...

A buddy and I got a great weekend in. We hit a surprise storm in Rocky Mountain National Park on Saturday and then rode the big north chute of Kelso Mtn under blue skies (and wind) on Sunday.

I really like this picture, except the timing could be a little better. It looks like he's just releasing the grab and not fully locked into it in this frame.

MountainDog, you're killing it! Great shots man.

Do you use the 18-135mm STM or the 15-85mm IS lens more when you're out? I used my 15-85mm all the time when I had a 60D, but now that I have a 6D I'm using my 24-105mm lens more often than not.

If only I could figure out how to avoid I-70, I'd go skiing more. ;)

Thanks guys!
This is the first season with the 70D and 18-135mm. I really like the range of the lens. The extra reach is nice for the action shots and Hugin can stitch panos real quick if I need to for the landscapes. I'm not a fan of carrying more than one lens in the backcountry. In the past the 15-85mm was my go-to lens. I love that lens. It still seems to be a little sharper than the 18-135mm, especially in the corners, but the 18-135mm has been good enough. I think I'll start using the 15-85mm more on days in the trees or when it's snowing. Not taking distant shots then.

I also recently picked up a new Opteka 6.5mm fisheye for $180. That's been fun to change things up a bit every now and then. Although I have been blasted by snow more often since the rider has to be right on top of you.

I struggled deciding between the 6D and 70D. Coming from the Rebel Xsi, I really wanted the faster 7fps and all cross-type focus points of the 70D. The pop up flash is nice for fill and remote flash triggering too. Based on Smmokan's shots, I'm sure I would've been happy with the 6D too.

It's still snowing so this thread isn't dead yet!
