Replacing kit lens with these.....

Sigma 17-70 2.8-4 OS HSM At $299 at B&H,,thats the one i just got,,and like it so far,,,i think its will be a great walk around lens??useing on a Canon T3i,but its alittle bigger and alot heavier,,but much better build...haven,t had it long enough to Jude IQ

I'm also looking at replacing my kit lens, and all of the feedback I've received has pointed me towards the Tamron 17-50 over the Sigma. You might consider the Sigma 17-50 too or the Canon 15-85.

I just got hands on my 17-55 Canon. Great lens, better in many respects than the Tamron non-VC for sure but I do not, for one minute, feel that I was held back by the Tamron. My 17-50 is a hell of a lens and I am debating on actually keeping it after some quick comparison shots, mainly random charts and text to see sharpness.

I would love the canon 17-55 but jut a little out of my budget. I've never used the Sigma but thought it would worth looking at it through B&H at the sale price

I've rented the tamron and loved it

Just get the Tamron, you won't be disappointed.

Thanks for all the input - I picked up the Tamron 17-50 yesterday.

The sales rep highly recommended it (he used to work for Sigma for what its worth)

One important thing to point out:
don't listen to sales reps. I'm sure he would also have highly recommended the canon 75-300 if you'd asked about it and shown an interest in buying it.

That said, you will be happy with the lens.
