Just so everyone knows, the new Canon 24-70mm f/4L IS is now available online. I can't buy one, but it sounds very interesting and tempting..... I'd love to know what people say.

I really don't need anything in that range because I already have a 28-135mm IS. But if I was in the market I could see myself going for the 24-70L f/4 over the 24-105L. 5D4 | 8-15L | 28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS | 24L II | 40mm pancake | 100L IS | 70-200mm f/2.8L IS mk2 | 400mm f/4 DO IS

It is better than the 24-105 in its zoom range but is indifferent to the Tammy 2.8 If you see me with a wrench - call 911. 5d3, T3i, 17-55 2.8, 50 1.8, 70-200 2.8 L II, 24-105 f4. Once it drops to the same price as the Tamron, Canon's strategy will seem clever: 1Dx | 5D III | 1D IV | 8-15 | 16-35L II | 24-70L II | 70-200L II | 400L II | 1.4x III | Σ85 | 100L | 3 x 600EX-RT | ST-E3-RT

Jan 06, 2013 04:58 | #15 I might have been interested in this lens as a walkabout as the 24-105 is quite bulky. Unfortunately, the 24-70 isn't that much smaller and it is twice the price. Ian
