Jan 04, 2013 07:39 | #2 depends on what you're looking for. I was recently looking for a fisheye, and while I'm sure the 8-15 is great, I had no want or need for a circular fisheye, which the 8-15 is basically until 15mm. So, with that in mind, I didn't want to spend the extra dough on a zoom fisheye, when I'd only use it at 15mm. So, I bought the Sigma 15mm FE and gained f/2.8 instead of the f/4 of the L. If you'll be shooting with it indoors, or in low light, and don't have need/want for the circular fisheye on the 8-15, I'd go for either the Sigma 15mm or the Canon 15mm. Canon 5dmkIII, Sigma 15mm f/2.8FE; 35mm f/1.4; Canon EF70-200 f/2.8L IS II; --- YN560 x 7

I've been very impressed with it, both in sharpness (out to the edge) and also flare resistance/contrast. In tests I've seen it's even sharper than the 15mm primes. I agree though that the difference is quite small, so if you only want a rectangular frame then it might be hard to justify the price difference. Mark.

I'm sure the Canon 15mm f/2.8 fisheye would have been fine too, but I'd prefer a currently in production lens. Shawn McHorse - Shawn.McHorse.com
