I had intended to get the setting sun glowing on the dead trees but didn't take into account that this location is set well below the horizon hence by the time I got there I was to late. I hung around to get some twilight shots and this was the pick of the bunch.
As for the dead River-red gums, it is a consequence the installation of locks on the river many years ago to create permamant "pools" between locks for irrigation. This flooded the original river and creek beds to the current level. This coupled with rising salt levels has killed of thousands of the majestic trees. Having said that, any subsequent significant floods over and above the managed pool level is an environmental boon for the region with increased fish stocks, yabbie explosions and new vegetation growth.
Thanks for looking.
