First post here. I am impressed with the amount of info and have plenty to keep me busy for a while!

I have an XSI that I will someday upgrade but for now I have a small issue. I had a SD card lose a prong in the card slot. It was lodged where I could see it so DH tried to remove it but it ended up being lodged further in. I can put a card in and the camera functions fine. The eject function just doesn't work properly. I can depress the card only a small bit so it doesn't spring up. I just slide out the card manually.

Does anyone know the mechanism of how the card slot works? I have been looking for a schematic or repair guide, but haven't been able to find one. I am concerned that the slot will become unusable if I don't fix the issue.

TIA for any replies.

Can you put any card in and have the camera work properly? If so I would put the largest possible card in and from now on transfer images with the cable instead of removing the card. The repair would likely be expensive relative to the value of the body.

Thanks for the reply. It was reading the cards fine and I had a 32gb card in there. Your post prompted me to try another card in the slot. Actually, it was a micro sd adapter, but it worked at dislodging the little piece that broken off from my old SD card. YAY!

Guess, this is my lesson...don't buy cheapo sd cards. Now I can sell it without any caveats. :)

Thanks again.
